Photos: Budapest, Zagreb, Munich

Budapest, Hungary

Thanks, hotel room, for such a helpful list.

It's so pastel and handsome there.

Budapest-ian important building. (waited too long to caption...)

On a bridge.

Ah, sunset.

Archaeology in the city.

Roger with dogs!

Sights from our sweet boat tour with awesome narration.

I think this is a photo of a crazy bathroom mirror.

Strange junk bar. Like many thrift stores threw up all at once in the same building and then some hipsters stirred it about. Fun, strange, dark.

Hookah times.

Budapest night graffiti.

Awesome baths.

AWESOME!

This is what their zoo looks like. Stylin'.

Birthday corn from a cart!

Birthday nap (mostly) on the train from Budapest to Zagreb.
Zagreb, Croatia
Caterpillar baby? Check marked for adequate eyeball enlargement.
Plitvice Lakes National Park

They'd had some snow before we arrived.

Courtney and David, the first lake was a bit frozen so we couldn't see the blueness of it.

Sun and snow. Where's Peter Cottontail?

Where the plowing ends.

Tangerine man that Roger made. He looks ruder if you look at him askance.
What are those air bubbles from? Hopefully nothing trapped. Let's say snow mermaids, instead.

Majesty.

Such a lovely and private moment..... except for that guy who was also enjoying the view.

Where we stayed for the weekend.

Roger's figure on the left, mine on the right. I think we know who the better artist is.

Direct your attention to the clarity and color of the water between the snow banks.

Moss prevails!

HERE's what we were anticipating from Courtney and David's tales.

And this.

Look how American we look (not wearing stylish black coats or shiny plastic dark colored coats = American in Europe) ...

...and adorable.

Sassy Scottish Snowman says, "Sashay!" (that-a-way)

No wolves allowed in our hotel. Seriously. Don't even try it, Red.

This is where the bus from Zagreb dropped us off. Just some seven foot banks and a bit of a driveway down to the right.

The only sweet 50s graphic not shown here is the other side of the doorknob hanger which is a creepy serial killer man looking ominously over the finger that he's raised to his lips. No one will disturb you with that sign on your door. Roger's got it if you want to see it.

Rather sad graffiti on the bus stop to get back to Zagreb.
Zagreb

The following are excerpts of a SWEET street art wall which was portioned out to various artists by the city. It's so awesome. I photographed the entire thing but I've only included some of them.

It was Sunday and everything was closed (save a few restaurants/ cafes). Nonetheless lovely.

In my top 5 favorite bits of graffiti from the trip. Teamwork.

Kitty hidey-hole.

Munich, Germany

It was hella early and we'd spent much of our night train talking to a new friend from Croatia. (You'll see him later. He's awesome.)

THERE HE IS!!!!!

How beautiful is YOUR yogurt? This beautiful? I think not.

I may have been a bit loopy with tiredness, but I was determined to get a good photo of this squirrel. This is the best I did in fifty or so frames. Digital = forgivingly great.

This goose knows you're watching.

Andechs
On the way to Andechs, the magical land of pork, beer, and monks. Roger was stoked. Little did I know how stoked I should have been at this moment.

Sooty robin?

Yep. We made it.

Just look at the face.

See all that part that looks crispy delicious? It IS. It IS crispy delicious. Heaven on a mountain. Also, the potato salad is vinegary and pleasant not mayonnaise and weird.

View of the Alps from the top.

Church and part of the monastery.

Town of Andechs.

Neuschwanstein
Color of a river near Neuschwanstein.

I'm holding a castle while having some intestinal distress.

The other castle near the Disney type castle. Because one is not enough.

DOOT DOOT DOOOO!

Photo of a guy on a tree who reminded me, quite a bit, of my grandfather on my mom's side.

View from one of the castle windows. The inside was crazy cool and painted, decorated, swanned , and mosaic-ed to the hilt. Interesting king and story. Look it up.

A bridge where the king would go to look back at his castle and reflect upon how beautiful it looked with the lights on at night.
Does tree mirror man or man mirror tree? YOU be the judge.
Back in Munich.

Our new friend, Srdan!!! He's boss. Sometime we'll introduce you. Seriously awesome dude.  Here we are in the Hofbrauhaus. They serve beer in liters. Tip: three is too many.

Lovely old gent who shared our table and our toasts and took our photo.

The doner that started all of the doner eating.
